The Badge of Courage
The UN|REDACTED Lapel Tag is a 60mm × 20mm brushed aluminum tag with a 3-point rare earth magnetic back fastener. It carries the marks of the bill it represents: H.R. 4405, the vote count 427-1, and a TM designation.
The insight
Courageous people don’t need to be sold courage. They recognize it when they see it.
The Tag does not give the wearer courage. It identifies the courage they already had when they showed up. The campaign recognizes civic courage rather than selling it.
The Tag, in detail
- Front face: 60mm wide × 20mm high. Brushed aluminum.
- Back fastener: 45mm × 12mm magnetic plate. 3 rare earth magnets in a triangular configuration.
- Legislative marks: H.R. 4405, 427-1, TM
- Wear style: Lapel, collar, or shirt placket. The magnetic back means no pins, no holes.
The two editions
500 Tags will be produced in total. 250 are designated as the Congressional Edition, hand-lettered on the reverse for distribution to aligned members of Congress. The remaining 250 form the Public Edition — available to constituents who choose to wear their vote.
The visual roll call
When a member of Congress wears this Tag, they wear their vote — in flesh, in public, on the record. It creates a visual accountability layer: you can see who stands and who hides. No press release can replicate this kind of analog accountability.
When a constituent wears this Tag, they identify themselves as someone who is paying attention to the silence and the vote. Two strangers wearing the Tag recognize each other without a word.
